There might be several reasons. Hair tend to “electrify” after being dried so I guess that helps somehow. Also, if they want that hairstyle to remain for more hours like that, it may help it. It’s just making the hair to be in a way they want it to be for a longer period (of course they are interested to remain like that during the show). You know that they are very strict even with a single strand of hair ha ha:)
